The male is denying competition by default and the male is trying to deny competition in every way possible, as soon as there is a single reason to doubt there is competition the male doesn’t believe it right away.
Convincing the male that there is competition gets more and more difficult for the female.
But for the female perspective, this is not what she is trying to do.
From the female perspective, she is trying to get the male excited with better and better ways because she thinks he is just gay.
